ITS TIME YOU KNOW ABOUT TIMING….

Timing Chain Issues in Land Rover Ingenium Engines – What You Need to Know

If you drive a Land Rover or Range Rover with a 2.0L Ingenium engine (petrol or diesel), you may have heard about timing chain problems affecting some models. This issue has become increasingly common, and it’s something we’re seeing more frequently in our workshop.
The timing chain is a critical part of your engine, and in the Ingenium range, it has been known to wear out much earlier than expected—sometimes as early as 30,000 to 70,000 miles. Common signs include a rattling noise from the engine (especially on cold starts), warning lights, or a drop in performance. If left untreated, it can lead to serious engine damage.
Land Rover has acknowledged this issue in some cases, but repairs can be expensive if the vehicle is out of warranty.
At Honer’s, we’re experienced in diagnosing and repairing these timing chain problems. If you notice unusual engine noises or just want peace of mind, we can inspect your vehicle and advise on the best course of action—potentially saving you from a much bigger repair down the road.
Timing Chain Repairs on these cars start from £1995 Inc VAT, This includes the Full timing kit as well as a Engine Service upon completion.

Ford EcoBoost Wet Belt Problems – Don’t Get Caught Out

If you own a Ford with a 1.0L EcoBoost engine, it’s important to be aware of a known issue affecting the wet timing belt (also known as a “belt-in-oil” system). This belt runs inside the engine and is designed to last up to 150,000 miles—but in reality, many are wearing out much sooner, sometimes as early as 60,000–80,000 miles.
Over time, the belt can degrade due to oil contamination, leading to cracking, fraying, or sludge buildup in the oil system. If not caught early, a failing belt can cause severe engine damage—often resulting in full engine failure.
Ford has acknowledged the issue and updated service intervals on some models, but many drivers are still unaware of the risk.
At our garage, we’re experienced in inspecting and replacing EcoBoost wet belts before they become a serious problem. We use the correct parts and methods to ensure long-lasting protection for your engine.
Prevention is better than cure, Starting From £950 Inc VAT.

PSA 1.2 PureTech Wet Belt Issues – The Facts

Many popular Peugeot, Citroën, Vauxhall and DS models use the 1.2L PureTech petrol engine, which features a “wet” timing belt—one that runs inside the engine oil. While these belts were originally advertised to last up to 150,000 miles, in reality, they often start to degrade much earlier, sometimes before 60,000 miles.
Over time, the belt material can break down in the oil, causing bits of rubber to clog the oil pickup system. This can lead to oil pressure issues, warning lights, loss of performance, or even catastrophic engine failure if not addressed early.
PSA has since revised service intervals for some models, and early replacement is now recommended in many cases.
At our garage, we’re fully equipped to inspect and replace PSA wet belts using manufacturer-approved techniques and components. Whether you’re experiencing issues or just want to stay ahead of problems, we can help protect your engine and your wallet.
Starting at only £650 Inc VAT and normally taking less than 6hrs we can have your car back on the road the same day.
